My sick beetle and I appreciate any help you can provide!!!Įdit: just notice the forum label was for the TDI. Any advice/suggestions/tips? I'm in med school and living on loans and b/c of the $2500 (repairs/tows) already spent, my 'car repairs' budget is practically gone. The red light comes back on, the reservoir is pretty close to empty but the hoses are all attached. Had to add a bit more water to get it to full.ĭrive 15 minutes down the road, make one stop, and then 2 miles home. Fill the reservoir, takes the rest of the G12. Reattached the hose to the box on the left. ![]() Reattached the hose/clamp to the reservoir. Reservoir was empty, hose had come off the bottom of the reservoir and there's a hose on the right side of the engine coming from the 'engine cover'(?) to the black box on the right close to the firewall that was loose. Red light flashing again, thought the coolant was low when it didn't shut off and beeped again, I pulled over. My brother came later in the week and brought me the G12 to add.įastforward 2 more weeks. The first thing that happens after the car comes off the tow truck is the red light is flashing, coolant level was low. Had to have the car towed back here b/c I didn't have a way to get it. $2k later I have a new TB, water pump, and the valves (?) were repaired. Had the car towed to the big city, about 1.5 hrs away. Because the TB broke rather than me just having it changed, I knew it probably messed other stuff up. Timing belt broke a little over a month ago, the local mechanic had the car 2 weeks and still couldn't tell me what all needed to be fixed. Advanced apologies for the length of the post!īackground: I live in the sticks. ![]() I hope/pray someone out there knows what's going on-I don't have the hundreds of dollars needed to keep sinking into my car.
